The Community Pharmacy Research Consortium was established in 1996 in order to develop, through co-operation and investment, a strong research base to inform community pharmacy policy and practice. The CPRC partner organisations were:
A steering group consisting of representatives from each of the partner organisations oversaw the research programme. The group was chaired by Mr Ray Jobling (St John's College, Cambridge). Secretariat support was provided by the Research and Development Division at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. The consortium came to a close in 2005 with the establishment of a new partnership arrangement, the Health Policy Forum.
The consortium funded three research programmes. The first explored the contribution of community pharmacists to the health of the nation and several projects were funded under this theme.
