Non Mecical Prescribing Symposium
Pharmacists encourage more men to visit their pharmacy

Non Medical Prescribing Symposium

The first symposium of its kind on independent prescribing in Wales was jointly hosted by the RPSGB Welsh Pharmacy Board and the Royal College of Nursing Wales on 27 April 2009.

Over 50 pharmacist and nurse prescribers attended the event,  providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the development of their roles and identify challenges faced in their daily practice.

The conference highlighted how non medical prescribing is being used across Wales, enhancing both patient care and service delivery.

The Welsh Board will now look at the outcomes from the day and plan to continue to work with the RCN in promoting the role of non – medical prescribing and overcoming some of the barriers to introducing new non- medical prescribing services.

Pharmacists encourage more men to visit their pharmacy

The Welsh Pharmacy Board ‘hooked up’ with one of Wales’s best known rugby internationals in a campaign to encourage more men to visit their local pharmacy to seek medical advice.

The campaign, launched by James Hook and Welsh Board representative, Elen Jones, at Cardiff Arms Park on 17 November, urged men to take advantage of the services that are offered by their local pharmacy.
