Voting papers were to be returned to Electoral Reform Ballot Services Ltd by 12 noon on Friday 9 May 2008.
The Regulations governing the election (see below) were amended in 2006. The Candidate pack also includes a note of the procedures applicable to the election this year. This note details the requirements for nominators and the material which is required in order for a nomination to be valid, and contains information on canvassing and publicity (Election Procedures 2008). Included in the Candidate pack is a paper for prospective candidates setting out the role and responsibilities of a Council member and the commitment required in order to undertake those duties effectively (Election to the Council).
A guidance paper has been developed to help candidates through the process of nomination and the submission of the required documentation. Listed below are the documents you will need to read and those you will require to complete in order to stand for election to the Council. This includes a checklist of all the documents required to be submitted by candidates and a template to help you compile your declaration of interests and particulars of work.
The Returning Officer is responsible for the conduct and administration of the election. The Head of Corporate Secretariat undertakes the day-to-day administration.
