The Scottish Pharmacy Board has 12 places: five for pharmacists whose substantive practice is in the community practice sector, at least one of which shall be filled by a locum pharmacist and at least one of which shall be filled by an employee pharmacist; two for pharmacists whose substantive practice is in the hospital practice sector; and one for a pharmacist whose substantive practice is in the primary care/public health practice sector. Four places are for pharmacists from any sector.

Pharmacists whose substantive practice is in the hospital practice sector
There are two places on the Scottish Pharmacy Board for pharmacists whose substantive practice is in the hospital practice sector and one candidate, Sandra Elizabeth Melville, stood for election. Therefore, under the Election Scheme, there was no need to proceed to the second stage of the election process – the ballot. Accordingly, the Returning Officer, Lyndon Braddick, declared that Sandra Elizabeth Melville has been duly elected to the Scottish Pharmacy Board and will take office from 00.01 1 February 2010. The Board will co-opt another pharmacist whose substantive practice is in the hospital practice sector.
Pharmacists whose substantive practice is in the community practice sector

Four employee community pharmacists stood for election and therefore, under the Election Scheme, there was no need to proceed to the second stage of the election process – the ballot.
