The Chair of the Committee is legally qualified, and in appropriate cases the Committee will sit with a medical adviser. The quorum for meetings of the Committee and the role of advisers to the Commttee are set out in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (Fitness to Practise and Registration Appeals Committees and Their Advisers) Rules 2007.
The function of the Committee is to consider decisions previously taken by the Society's Registrar which are "appealable registration decisions" for the purposes of the 2007 Order. Article 42 of the Order sets out a list of such decisions. Please note that the Committee is unable to consider appeals from decisions which are not listed in Article 42.

Any person wishing to appeal a decision listed in article 42 must first serve a Notice of Appeal on the Registrar. The Society has prepared a standard template Notice which must be used.

You will be asked to choose whether you wish your appeal to be considered on the papers by the Committee, or to have a public hearing before the Committee. Please note that, at a public hearing, the Society will be represented by a lawyer, and the Committee has the power to order that you or the Society, should pay the costs of that hearing. Where an appeal relates to issues of character or health, the Committee will take account of the Good Character and Health Framework published by the Society.
