Jacob Bell: The Patron

 

Jacob Bell (1810-1859), founder of the Pharmaceutical Society, was also a significant figure in the Victorian art world. This online exhibition explores his life and his role as a significant patron of important artists in the mid-nineteenth century.

An illustrated booklet entitled Jacob Bell A useful and honourable life is available to mark the 150th anniversary of the death of Jacob Bell, founder of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.  Written by Briony Hudson, Keeper of the Museum Collections, and June Bridgeman of the Friends of Woodbury Park Cemetery, the 28 page booklet explores Victorian health and medicine, Bell’s life, and a detailed account of his final days in Tunbridge Wells.
