Registering to use the Library

If you are a member of the Society or a registered pharmacy technician registration with the Library is free. Simply let us know that you wish to use the Library. We will then enter your details (name, address, registration number and preferred postal address being the minimum requirements) on our database and send to you our welcome pack of further information. If you wish you may download and complete a registration form (members form; technicians form).

If you are a pre-registration student registration with the Library is free. Please download and complete a registration form (there is also a form available in your handbook) and post it to us.

If you are a adjudicating student registration with the Library is free. Please download and complete a registration form. Then simply post this back to us with a copy of the letter that you have received from the Society acknowledging your application to register.

If you are an MPharm student registration with the Library is free. Please print out and complete the registration form and post it to us along with evidence of your MPharm status. A photocopy of your student card will suffice as long as it bears the name of your degree. If not, it will need to be supported by a second form of evidence, such as a course enrolment form.

If you are not a member of the Society or of any of the groups listed above, you may register with the Library, however there is a fee. You will be required to provide evidence of your address and, if a student, of your status. The Library offers different levels of membership (either reference or subscription) for periods from one day to one year. For further details please contact the Library.

Visiting the Library

The Library is located at the Society's headquarters at 1 Lambeth High Street, London, SE1 7JN.

The Library is located on the Lower Ground Floor down one flight of stairs from the main entrance. The Library is open 10.00am - 1.00pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. We are closed at weekends and on statutory Bank Holidays

While in the Library you are able to:

We provide an informal and relaxed, but quiet, atmosphere in which to work, so even if you simply wish to while away the time between meetings at the Society, then the Library is a good place to do it.

Using the Library at a distance

It is quite often the case that members located outside London cannot visit the Library in person very often, if at all. If this applies to you, then the Library provides a number of services which mean that you have access to pharmacy information and literature regardless of your location in the UK. These services include:

For more detailed information about each of these services, see our 'Services' pages and select your membership category.
