Access
Anyone may visit the Library, but only registered pharmacists, registered pharmacy technicians, preregistration trainees and MPharm students have free access. All other visitors need to pay a fee (£17 per day (£6 for non-pharmacy students) or £8.50 (£3.00 for non-pharmacy students) if you visit after 2pm).
Making an appointment
If you are not a member of the Society or if you wish to guarantee additional support when you visit the Library, you should make an appointment. Non-members who arrive without an appointment will not be guaranteed access.
The Library holds a current clinical collection relating to pharmacy – its practice, research, science and history. It has a small selection of current journal titles in pharmacy and medicine, and a larger collection of journal titles that are no longer added to.
It holds the full range of Pharmaceutical Press publications, including Martindale: the complete drug reference, Stockley's drug interactions, British National Formulary and The Pharmaceutical Journal, plus all of the textbooks published by the Pharmaceutical Press.
A key collection within the Library is the holdings of pharmacopoeias, proprietary texts and formularies from around the world. Some of the texts in this collection date back several decades.
Using the collection
The collection is for reference use only. You are able to consult items within it while visiting the Library, but it is not possible to borrow any of the texts in stock.
